HİZİR Armoured Vehicle: One Major TSK Delivery

HIZIR armoured vehicle deliveries have started strengthening the Turkish Armed Forces with a new-generation 4×4 platform.

HIZIR Armoured Vehicle Delivery Completed

The first delivery process for the new-generation HİZİR armoured vehicle has been completed. The vehicles entered the Turkish Armed Forces inventory under a Ministry of National Defence procurement programme.

Anadolu Agency reported that the vehicles were developed for the operational needs of the Turkish Armed Forces. Moreover, the first batch is now ready to strengthen Mehmetcik in the field.

First Batch Enters Inventory

Katmerciler completed the first delivery stage successfully. The company said production work at the factory continues without interruption.

The remaining deliveries under the project are expected by the end of the year. Therefore, the programme will continue to support the Turkish Armed Forces through 2026.

HİZİR Armoured Vehicle Built For TSK

The new HIZIR version was developed in full compliance with NATO standards. It uses a 3-door bespoke hull structure and carries 5 personnel.

This layout reflects the needs of modern operational environments. In addition, it gives the vehicle a compact but protected mission profile.

Designed For Tough Conditions

Katmerciler shaped the new HİZİR 4×4 for difficult terrain and climate conditions. The vehicle also brings high mine and ballistic protection.

Furkan Katmerci, Deputy Chairman of Katmerciler’s Executive Board, said the first delivery made the company proud. He stressed that the vehicle answers modern Turkish Armed Forces needs.

SARP RCWS Boosts Firepower

The new version carries the ASELSAN-produced SARP Remote Controlled Stabilised Weapon System, known as UKSS. This turret gives HIZIR stronger battlefield firepower.

The SARP system also improves crew protection. As a result, operators can engage threats while staying under armour.

Integrated Mission Systems

The vehicle’s other onboard systems will work in an integrated mission structure. This is important because armoured vehicles now need networked battlefield functions.

The new HIZIR is therefore more than a protected transport platform. It also acts as a mobile combat node for Turkish troops.

400hp Engine Supports Mobility

The new-generation HİZİR has a 400 horsepower engine. This gives the vehicle strong mobility across difficult terrain.

It can climb a 70 per cent steep gradient. Moreover, it combines high manoeuvrability with user-friendly driving features.

Automatic Transmission Added

The vehicle also has a fully automatic transmission. This helps crews operate more easily during demanding missions.

High mobility matters for units working in rough regions. Therefore, the upgraded HIZIR can support both movement and protected presence.

Protection Remains Central

The new HİZİR offers high mine and ballistic protection. This makes protection one of the vehicle’s core advantages.

Katmerci said the renewed HİZİR 4×4 will increase Mehmetcik’s strength in the field. He also linked this advantage to protection in harsh mission areas.

NATO Standards Matter

NATO-standard development gives the platform broader operational credibility. It also supports compatibility with allied expectations and military procurement norms.

This matters for both domestic use and export sales. In addition, NATO-standard design can improve confidence among friendly and allied countries.

Local Subsystems Show Depth

Katmerci said the new version uses subsystems developed by the local ecosystem. He said this shows the level reached by Turkish engineering abilities.

This point is important for industrial independence. It also shows how Türkiye’s land systems sector continues to mature.

Domestic Industry Role

Armoured vehicle production depends on more than hull manufacturing. Sensors, weapon stations, power systems and integration skills all shape final performance.

Because of this, the new HIZIR reflects wider Turkish defence industry progress. It combines platform design with locally developed mission equipment.

Deliveries Continue This Year

Katmerciler aims to complete remaining deliveries by the end of the year. The company will continue serving the Turkish Armed Forces through this process.

That delivery schedule gives the programme near-term operational value. It also supports force planning for units expecting the new vehicles.

Factory Work Continues

The company said production activities at the factory continue without pause. This suggests the programme has moved beyond prototype or demonstration status.

Instead, HİZİR has entered a delivery and production phase. That shift gives the platform stronger relevance for both users and potential buyers.

Export Demand Keeps Growing

Katmerci said foreign demand for the HİZİR platform continues to rise. He highlighted strong interest from friendly and allied countries.

This interest creates new cooperation opportunities. Moreover, Katmerciler aims to sign new international contracts within the year.

Talks In Different Regions

The company continues talks and assessment processes in different geographies. This supports its export-focused growth strategy.

Katmerci said the company wants to carry this success into international markets. He also said exports would support Türkiye’s broader export goals.

Why HIZIR Matters

HİZİR gives the Turkish Armed Forces a protected 4×4 platform with strong mobility. Its 400 horsepower engine and 70 per cent grade-climbing ability support difficult terrain missions.

The 5-personnel layout and 3-door hull create a focused tactical design. Meanwhile, the ASELSAN SARP UKSS turret adds protected firepower.

Field Value For Troops

The platform’s strongest value sits in protection and mobility. Turkish troops need both when operating across harsh terrain and high-risk areas.

The new HİZİR also supports a layered domestic supply chain. That helps Türkiye reduce dependence while strengthening its armoured vehicle industry.

Defence Industry Impact

The HİZİR armoured vehicle delivery strengthens Türkiye’s land systems portfolio. It also shows that domestic armoured vehicle programmes are moving into repeatable production.

The programme matters because it links operational need with industrial growth. TSK gains a protected vehicle, while Katmerciler gains export momentum.

The ASELSAN SARP integration also adds value. It shows how Turkish platforms and Turkish mission systems can work together inside one package.

Export interest from friendly and allied countries could become highly important. New contracts would help Katmerciler scale production and widen Türkiye’s market reach.

The key test now is delivery discipline. If remaining vehicles arrive by year-end, the programme will gain stronger credibility at home and abroad.
